At the center of the more commonly known Maxwell Tartan is the family motto – ‘Reviresco’ meaning ‘I flourish again’ the declaration of the veracity of the power and tenacity of the clan to triumph. It has been argued that the last recorded Chief of Clan Maxwell was William Maxwell of Carruchan, who is believed to have died in 1863; however, his memory can be kept alive by having his fabric, the  Maxwell Modern Tartan as a symbol of pride and dignity to all bearings of the Maxwell name.

Various branches of the Maxwells were active through centuries contributing to Scottish history, including fighting in many battles and supporting the Scottish crown.
